The portable system is used to screen beef cattle for susceptibility to congestive heart failure enabling farmers to develop the most effective care regimes. This is a first of its kind application using genetic risk factors for animal management.  As an added benefit, information and results are kept confidential to the feedlot and all test remain under their control.

The system successfully tests for the presence of the A2 form of beta-casein, a milk protein produced by dairy cattle, thought to be better tolerated by people who are lactose intolerant. By testing on-site, dairy managers save time and money.  Previously, managers sent samples to reference labs and waited several days for results.

C-SAND tests are currently in beta-testing for porcine reproduction and swine respiratory syndrome. Currently farmers must send blood samples off site to the lab and wait 48-hours for results. Livestock on the farm remain at risk of infection during this waiting period whereas with The MatMaCorp System answers are available within 2-hours of testing. This breakthrough has a monumental impact on the farming industry as livestock can be quickly screened, and infections contained, preventing further spread and the risk of an epidemic.
